Auto Disconnect Specific Phones

I'm new to the forum and this is my fist post. I have always been able to find the answers to my questions just by searching.
I doing a job with an HAI OmniPro II for someones cottage. They want to install two new phone lines, One to the Garage and One to the Dock. The problem is since this is a cottage there will be a lot of time when nobody is home. Is there a way to automatically disconnect specific phone lines when the system arms? I'm looking at the Elk-924. Can it work? I've never used one before.

Any Thoughts?

You can disconnect the phone lines pretty easily - you're on the right track wanting to use an Elk924. On the phone line controlled by the M1, be sure you're doing it *after* the RJ31X.

You'll probably want the phone lines connected to the NC side of the relays and have the relays open when the system is disarmed. Upon failure it'll leave the phone lines off; but to me that seems better than having the relays energized the entire time the place is armed away (since that'll be the majority). And this will reduce the power draw in case of power outage.

You only need to disconnect with Tip or Ring - just do the same on both... You can use one 924 to do both lines by disrupting just one of the wires. The best place to do this is at the telco service panel (MPOE).

Perfect! The only issue I have with your answer is I'm not using an M1... It's the omnipro II. Will that module work with this controller? My thinking is yes, I can only assume because it has 12v, gnd and trigger (zone)... Do you know for sure?

Yes you can use the Elk relay with the Omni.
Run it off one of the 12V outputs.

I also recoomend using the NC side of the relay.

heh - oops - when you mention elk parts, I assume Elk - but they're universal and work fine... you should be good to go.
