Credit card from from VIP TUNE

I was also hit by the $29.99 charge but hadn't thought to post it here as I thought it was an isolated incident. This must be a huge scam for sooo many here to be hit.

It would be interesting to compare statements to determine if there was a common vendor or on-line verifier amongst all the people here that reported the fradulent charge.

This was on my business card and not my personal card which makes it easier to narrow it down. Many of my purchases are through Custom Electronics Distributors but also the usual suspects: Amazon, Home Depot, Lowes, Smart Home, Automated Outlet. I've seen a lot of people who have been hit by this also list Amazon purchases but I hardly feel that is conclusive due to the sheer amount of customers Amazon must have.

I was also told by my credit card company to watch out for it again because it was listed as a subscription service and may be there again next month. "The only thing to do is to continue to to report the false charge..."

naw, seriously, would be nice to see what is behind this, it could be a multitude of vendors. Given the huge amount of victims, I am guessing they hit more than one vendor. Just a guess though. I never would have thought after reading the first post that so many would have been victimized.

why do you think its a store? it's more likely a credit card procesor (the people the stores communicate with). Unfortunately, there is no way for us to track those folks down. Report to your CC company, let the finance companies figure it out.... they have large security departments just for this reason

It's unlikely the actual credit card processor who is scamming you (but possible), and more likely that an agent, employee, or hacker ripped of the CC processor's database. This happened to a year ago, but I can't remember the process name off the top of my head.

FWIW, the fraudulent charge appears on my current Visa bill. Of these vendors, only SmartHome matches.

I had it on two different cards. A Visa and Master Card. Only a few vendors would have both of mine Smarthome is one of them; but there are others.

I just wanted to add to this thread - that when my card was hit with this charge I had never made a charge to Smarthome on that card. I think this problem must be connected to a billing processor outside of the companies that we deal with....
