Is TED still the way to go?
I have HS and see they have a plug-in for it.

$190 isnt cheap and I want to make sure I get the best one.

Thanks!
Ty

There's a Brultech unit being discussed in these forums often recently. Don't have one personnally, but check that thread out.

I'd definitely look at the Brultech ECM-1240. http://www.brultech.com

There will be a free HS plugin available within a few weeks. Also, doesn't the TED use the powerline and creates conflicts with X10 and UPB?

Their website is really difficult - more than it needs to be! Or is it just me?

In any case this link will take you right to the 1240

I also think the new Brultech unit is probably the best bang for the buck right now. It is slightly more expensive than a TED, but it not only monitors the total amount of energy used, but also up to 7 total channels of power. So in addition to the main power usage, you can monitor individual circuits as well. So you can see exactly how much power is being used by the HVAC, or the electric water heater, etc.

Happy TED owner here.
The display is where I want it, and it just works....

Been accurate to within a dollar or 2 every month.

On one of the previous Energy posts one of the Brultech employees had said there was a special deal for cocoontech member. It would be interesting to know if they will extend that to there new 1240 Unit. If anyone finds out please let us know.

Wow, I like that 1240! I think I'm sold!

I was in the middle of making my own (probably still will so I can have more channels of monitoring).

But at least this way, I will have something to calibrate against!
