HAI Expander Boards

I am looking at the HAI expander board page and I can't quite figure out what is different between their various expanders.

The 16 Zone Hardwire Expander (10A06-1) seems to support an "additional zones that can be programmed for burglary, fire, temperature or auxiliary inputs." But you can only have two of them for some reason?

There is a 16 Zone / 16 Output Expansion Board(17A00-9). The description doesn't really say what it is for or what it can do.

Then there is a Lumina Pro / OmniPro II Expansion Board. (17A00-8) "It adds sixteen voltage outputs for control and sixteen inputs for additional security/fire zones, auxiliary or temperature inputs.".

So, all three things seem to have 16 input/outputs. One is limited to two per omnipro2. What is the difference between the three?

I had similar confusion when I first started looking at the HAI stuff. I cannot tell you why limits apply but the main differences ar that some are INPUT only while others are both INPUT & OUTPUT.
The Hardwire Expander 10A06-1 only supports 16 inputs from zones...has no capability to output a signal. Meanwhile, the Expansion board 17A00-8 has 16 INPUTS plus 16 OUTPUTS. You can use the outputs to trigger items such as the 4 or 8 Relay Module (19A00-1). If you look at the 17A00-8 mounted on a mounting plate (17A00-9), you will note that it only fills up the upper portion leaving the bottom area open. The 4 or 8 relay module can mount on that open space and connect to the OUTPUTS from the 17A00-8 so that the 17A00-8 can trigger those relays.
I have all these boards in my system.

The 10A06-1 is a 16-zone input expander board that mounts directly on the controller board through the expansion bus ribbon cable. You can add up to two 10A06-1 boards to an OmniPro II. The 17A00 Expansion Enclosure/Board connects to the console bus and can be remotely mounted. It supports 16 zone inputs and 16 voltage outputs and includes a built-in power supply with battery backup. You can add up to eight 17A00 Expansion Enclosure/Boards to an OmniPro II. The various "dash" numbers of the 17A00 reflect boards mounted in an enclosure (-1), mounted on a back plate (-9), or the board only (-8).
