HomeSeer: HSPro Upgrade from HS2 for $149 or from HS1 for $190

HomeSeer just announced that they will offer their PRO version of HomeSeer to current users of HomeSeer2 for an upgrade price of only $149.

Details HERE.

A comparison chart of the features included with HSPRo vs. HS2 is included HERE.

This is a great deal, especially if you have not yet purchased HSTouch with your original HS2 purchase and/or are planning to use one or two of the many plugins included with the Pro version.

This sale ends on 9-16-09.

Rich states the following are included with this upgrade:

If you own HS2, you can upgrade to HSPRO for only $149. This is what you get:

* HSPRO features like HSSentry, import/export, multiple phone lines, multiple Z-Wave interfaces, Z-Seer, and more.
* All HomeSeer developed plug-ins are included, this is up to a $1200 value!
* HSTouch including iPhone support, $239 value!
* HSTouch unlimited connections plug-in, $100 value!
* Any future HomeSeer developed plug-in.

How long is this good for (what time period) for those future plugins? How long do the free updates to the software and/or plugins take place?

Is this for an upgrade only? How about a "competitive upgrade" price for anyone thinking of switching to HomeSeer?

I could not find any reduced pricing for the full product.

That's because this special is targeted to those HS2 users who may be a little sore over paying for HS2, and HSTouch, and a few plugins that are now all included for one price in the HSPro package. I think this came about partly because the new iPhone HSTouch client requires a plug-in that's $39 but is also being included for free in HSPro. Someone asked one day last week if there was anyway for current HS2 users to get some credit for what they'd already purchased towards the purchase of HSPro. I believe this is HST's response.

Seems like a reasonable request. Send a note to Rich (rjh <space><space>at<space><space>homeseer<space>dot<space>com) and ask him to consider it.

Pure speculation on my part, but I think that is backwards. I think this sale will annoy those that paid for HStouch and their plugins already. This sale is most beneficial to new HS2 owners who haven't purchased many add-ons yet. For those that already own everything they want, this sale does nothing.

If someone bought the Nuvo/Russound and UPB plug-ins last month or last year for $139, they would be kicking themselves if they could now get EVERYTHING for only $10 more.

OK, I can see that and agree with it but I also think they're looking at those who have bought HS2, HSTouch, and a few plugins and are balking at paying another $139 for unlimited HSTouch connections and iPhone support. For another $10 you get the balance of the HS developed plugins and licenses for future developed HS plugins which makes it pretty tempting.

Edit: BTW, I'm in the balking at another $139 group.

Very enlightening. Creating a pricing structure can be a tricky business and HS has broken it down to the atomic level. If I've read the posts correctly, there are costs for each:
  • Plugin
  • Concurrent plugins
  • Connection

Ouch!

If I were an HS user, I'd jump at this opportunity to upgrade to HSPro and escape from being nickel-and-dimed to death. Sure, it may be unfair to the folks that paid full pop for the individual components (bundled in HSPro) but you can't please everyone all of the time.

Yes, we're planning a special promo on the full version later this month. Subscribe to our newsletter email list and you'll get the details as soon as we announce them.

What about 1.7 users?
Yup, haven't forgotten you guys... we're working on a promo for you too. Add your email to the newsletter list and will send the details later this month.

Thanks Macromark I signed up for the newsletter - hopefully the deal will be (at least :) ) $300 off of the full HSPro package.

I had thought about buying HS2, then buying the HSPro upgrade which would be (220+150) $370. My fingers are crossed that if I wait the future discount will be at least on par with that. Although $300 (or more...wink..wink..nudge..nudge..)off the full package (like the upgrade is now) sounds better! Make me an offer I can't refuse! :D

I run V 1.6 of HS and have HS2 to test plugin changes. While I do not regularly use HS2, when I originally bought the HST products of HS and HS Phone I had their full product suite with "lifetime" upgrade and support. Things have changed since then as generic HS Phone was discontinued and the for-pay plugins entered the picture. I did the upgrade and now again have "lifetime" for the HST products, albeit at a $150 additional investiment. When I made the HS PRO purchase I used the license code I originally used for HS1. The purchase page asked for either one. It looks like HS1 users have the same option as he HS2 ones with this $150 upgrade.

Michael,

Have you actually received your HSPro license code yet?

This statement was at the bottom of Rich's original forum post:

"Please note that we need to manually verify all HSPRO upgrades, so please allow us 24 hours to upgrade your license."

Just Curious.
