Question I wnat to mount about10 Ip cameras around to interface with my HAI. However I am going to use IP cameras but I am worried abouthtem slowing down my intranet. Has anyone had this issue? How many cameras can I add before it effects a 10-100 intranet or 10-100-1000 intranet?

I'd run that question by HAI tech support. Will all of them be running 24/7? Or will they record on a trigger?

I think there is additional hardware you'll need, but not sure.

Try posting in the HAI subforum.

HAI will also have some specific camera models for you to consider.

You can use this tool to calculate the bandwidth each camera will need, multiple by the number of cameras and you will get the total throughput required:

http://www.axis.com/products/video/design_.../calculator.htm

Note: This tool is really built for Axis products, however you can choose resolutions and frame rates accordingly, and get a very good idea of what your needs should be.

To really answer your question, yes, your internet upload speed will be effected, when someone is pulling feeds from the cameras/home - to what degree will be determined by the above and what speeds your ISP provides.

EDIT: I just realized that you were referring to intrAnet speeds vs. intERnet speeds, so some of my above comments are null. Nonetheless, it is still a good tool :)

Are you planning on being connected to these cameras 24/7? (DVR/ WL3, etc) or are you just viewing them on touchscreens?
