Is Charmed Quark gone?

Does anyone have a link to the last installer (I think it was 6.0.2)? I have been wanting to give it a try since I remember Dean opening it up but never got around to it. I hate it had to go down this way for him, it really seemed like he poured his life into CQC.

Terry
I have 6.0.7 which was the latest. PM me with email address and I can ship it to you. I've tried looking in Github but don't see an installer link.

Are there that many people still using CQC? Wish folks would post here, as any knowledge in Discord won't be exposed via search engines.

I'm still using it, but honestly my system really hadn't changed much for a long time prior to CQC going open source and the loss of the forum.

That being said, I can see a time where I will need to make a change. I guess I really need to look at Home Assistant because that seems to be one of the most popular choices right now. But I am a creature of habit, so I doubt I will make the move until I am forced to because I need something that CQC can't handle.

I emailed Mark to see if anyone had archived the forums before they were shut down...but crickets...

Never really spent time on CQC even though I had the gold package or whatever it was. Just wanted to support Dean as he really put a ton into CQC and support. Glad to see there will might be a good central place to go for those refugees.

After years of talking about transitioning from CQC to Home Assistant, I have finally pulled the trigger and shut down my CQC server. I am moving to Home Assistant and I think I am finally making some real progress in getting the functionality I had with CQC rebuilt in Home Assistant.

I noticed my signature still said I used CQC, so I had to change it. It's crazy to think I used that system for 20+ years...... That's just a testimony to Dean's work. It was a system far ahead of it's time back in the early 2000's.

So @DeanRoddy, I hope NC is still treating you well. Thank you for the many great years I used your product. You haven't logged into this site since 2019, but I hope you see this message someday and have a sense of pride knowing that people were still using your product long after you stopped developing it.

I saw the line through in your signature and wondered. I finally just decommed my HS2 & HS3 & CQC box on WindowsXP. HS4 for now. Don't really feel line going to learn something new with HA.

Still using CQC (for 19 years now) for my media room. Everything else is HA driven since 2024. Can't get some devices for the media room to operate in HA, nor can I get the same look as the family is used to. In my opinion, dashboards were easier in CQC.

I may end up running a hybrid setup myself. I did at least create a new Windows VM in Proxmox and installed/moved my CQC data over to it. I'm not currently turning that VM on right now, but it would be super easy to fire it up and run a hybrid setup if needed.

There is certainly some gear I own that doesn't intergrate into HA (RCS thermostats, B&K CT600 whole house audio system, Denon DVD player, etc). I'm getting an Elk-M1XSP interface to hook the thermostats up and the other equipment we really don't use anymore. I may eventually decide to use CQC to integrate the B&K CT600 via MQTT or something like that. But that is pretty low on the list of things to integrate right now.

Those that are running a hybrid setup - how are you integrating the two systems together. Are you using MQTT, or something else?

I, for one, am not integrating them. Everything pertaining to the media room is on CQC only with its won tablet. Everything else, Zwave, Zigbee, Elk, Universal Devices, MQTT, etc is on HA. Both CQC and HA run natively on Dell micro computers so not too much electrical usage - Although electric costs are starting to rise here. Trying to decide on keeping three of the Dell Micros are better than a new larger desktop that could do everything is the better solution. Oh yeah, I still have an operating SageTV system - if you are familiar with that.
