Looking for knobs to replace X10 dials

Guys,

I just figured out how to do this even better, and it's cheap to do.

1) I recently bought a 24pack of outlet plugs from Wal*Mart: http://www.safety1st.com/product.asp?productID=230
2) I cut one of the legs off, and cut it so it's not as wide anymore (just a tiny piece)
3) I took the palmpad apart, and removed that dial. You will see 2 'bumps' on the white plastic ring. I sanded those down a little to make movement much smoother, and require less force to move the actual dial as well.
4) I put the palmpad back together, and pushed the white piece of plastic right into the slot. No adhesives are required, it fits perfectly, and doesn't fall out at all, even when the remote falls off the couch.
5) Now you can control all your housecodes without having to buy one of these knobs!

make sure you view the full size version of these pics, so you can see the details, and any 'markings' I might have added.

To get access to multiple zones with any particular controller, I simply use the remap function of Homeseer. c3 can control a4, and c4 can control b3, etc. I even have one controller, where the on and off buttons control different functions, so there are now 16 "events" that I can control from 1 HR-12a.

Well the goal was to have full control of every single device in this house, and to come up with an alternative to the dials talked about in this thread :)

cough....cough...GEEK... cough.

sorry... I digressed again...
I had no need to turn on the basement light from the bathroom... :)

correctomundo Greg King!
