Have my network working just fine INTERNALLY but I have not figured out how to config my Linksys WRT600 router to open its doors to the outside world so I can get to my HA system and IP cameras from the internet. If anyone is familar with the WRT600 router and is able to help me figure out what I am doing wrong, PM me and I would like to exchange emails. BTW...I have a static IP address from my ISP.

I am having a hell of a time with a new Linksys Router as well. Dont remember the model number. Have to go back and look tomorrow.

Take a look at http://www.portforward.com/

They list he WRT600N and will provide step by step instructions.

Interesting concept but I cannot see how that software helps me. The PortForward software is geared toward setting up ports for a predefined list of applications...most of which are games being run on the computer hosting the PortForward software. That is not my situation. I need to config my router and ports to access components with static IP addresses on my network.

I think that the portforwarding site pointed to will show you how to setup the port forwarding you're after. If you know the ports that you want to forward to your static IPs, then this will walk you though how to do it. I know with my router, there is a good set of help screens included in the router setup that shows the exact same info that this site uses.

Finally got my kinks worked out and it turned out to be a bit more than just a router issue. I fixed the router by clearing a checked box which caused it to ignore any annonomus traffic. Once I did that, it would finally respond to a ping but I could not access my applications. Next issue turned out to be my Windows Home Server where I host the software (WL3) that I wanted to use to access my HA setup. In that case, I discoverd that my internet access option was turned off. Once I turned it on plus did a a few other tweeks, I am now in business. Never had to deal with any port config issues.
Although I have everything working now, networking up is still too much voodo, black magic and secret decoder rings to suit me.
