Hmmm, just read this Amazon review:
I think the lack of a motorized option is the only reason I haven't pulled the trigger on a couple. That said, most of the complaints with the motorized ones are related to battery life, where as this one has good battery life. Really, I'd like to find a motorized one that I can run a wire to and forego batteries all together. Don't know how hard that would be to find and use on a home.

I'm using a Zigbee model of the Kwikset motorized deadbolt and it works flawlessly. I couldn't imagine using one that was not motorized. By itself, the lock is really good, but when tied into your automation, the lock is fantastic. I have my HAI set to relock the door 1 minute after the door shuts (timer pauses if you re-open the door during that time, then starts again when the door closes). I can see the lock status in HAI and can control it from my iphone app. When the batteries start to get low, it will beep several times in a row when you open or close the door to alert you to the battery condition. I then have at least a week or two before I really need to replace them. The beeping will usually only happen about once a day or so when they are low, so it's not annoying until I get around to changing them. I get about 3 months between changes. I'd say the lock is opened/closed on average about a dozen times a day.
I have two of these locks (front door and garage) and I think they're great. Very solidly made. I actually prefer non-motorized one. If the door is a little tight, the motorized might fail to close. Maybe not an issue for me but could be for my wife, baby sitter, etc. On the other hand, this lock requires a turn by hand so pretty hard to leave it unlocked. Of course, in the minus side, you cannot get it locked/unlocked without human intervention.
I've purchased another one yesterday to replace Kwikset in the office. That one is a very simplistic non-zwave model and feels like a cheap toy rather than a serious lock. Never seen z-wave Kwikset in person so cannot judge.

I've seen the same argument many times, but if your door is tight and a motorized deadbolt has an issue, then so does your manual lock. Do you just tell people to turn the lock harder because it's tight? Just fix the problem with the door and then it's not an issue! Also, the Kwikset locks have a tapered deadbolt and a lot of torque, so your door or lock has to be misaligned pretty bad for it to not function.
For my personal situation, I needed to have the motorized version to do any good. My wife and kids were constantly leaving the front door unlocked when they left the house. They would also forget their keys all the time, so they ended up using the keypad to open the garage door instead. The motorized deadbolt is saving wear and tear on my garage door & opener and ensures that the door is locked when people leave.

I don't know how it works with the various HA systems, but I watched an Elk webinar which stated that the Schlage also doesn't report locked/unlocked status... this was a non-starter for me.
