Haiku Space Questions/Troubleshooting/etc

Security Access (Door Lock) issues.
1. 4 digit limit on user access code to lock or unlock the Z-Wave lock. Yale YRD-220-ZW allows 4-8 digits.
If I set a 4 digit code in the lock, it works with SPACE. Should be able to have more digits for better security..

2. To lock or unlock a lock one needs to click on SECURITY from the main page, then on the lock's Icon, then a smaller window comes up with two options,
     Timer and:

* If the lock is LOCKED you can only press UNLOCK, if the lock is UNLOCKED then you can only press LOCK. Press one of these and you get a not needed, extra click window that gives you two options to click on, Enter Password or Cancel.  This window should be eliminated as you can click Cancel from the password keypad window next. Just go directly to the keypad.

3. Once the lock is Locked or Unlocked it takes forever (2-10 mins) for the icon color and status to update.  This maybe an issue with how the OmniPro II handles the Z-Wave status, not sure.  The problem here is that if the lock has just been LOCKED but is still reporting UNLOCKED there is no option to Unlock it...and of course the reverse. (see 2*)  (I hope this is not confusing....)
Again, not sure SPACE can do anything about this put wanted to list the issue.

Thanks

While I agree on the status of Lock/Unlock being only a binary toggle being somewhat problematic when one needs to "double-press", the real problem here is not Space but rather the speed at which the locks transmit their status. I am using z-wave locks as well with HAI OmniPro systems and even natively from the OmniPro touchscreens or controller, there is a HUGE delay between when the Lock/Unlock command is sent and when it is acknowledged. It's even worse when manually changing the lock position at the door - sometimes these statuses are not reported until 30 minutes later!

Anyway... the point being, the delay and funky handing is not a Space issue: it's a problem with the locks themselves being lazy about sending status (maybe as a battery-saving "feature"?)

Feature request for better handling of shades:

The HAI OmniTouch provides native control for Somfy with three stages - Up, Down and Stop. It would be a great enhancement if Space also provided support for Somfy natively rather than simply as an On/Off device, so that the ability to stop the shade mechanism midway would be available.

I'm not so sure it's just a problem with the lock delaying transmission of status updates. I have 3 Kwikset locks and one of them updates its status on the OmniPro pretty quickly (usually a few seconds) after a status change. My other two can be a LOT more sluggish in getting their updated status back to the OmniPro. I've attributed these much delayed updates to Z-Wave intermittent communications issues with two of my locks. While I haven't done enough testing to absolutely confirm this, the fact that one of my three locks is consistently responsive seems to indicate it's not a design issue but more likely a communication problem with some of the locks... unless the manufacturer of the locks updated their firmware in mid-production and some of their locks communicate better than others.

Regardless of this apparent problem with the device communications, I think it's critical for Space to allow the user to send either a Lock or Unlock command regardless of the supposed status of the lock. If the lock truly has missed the command (it happens to my two problematic locks), sometimes the only way to resolve it is to send another of the same command.

This will be added, thanks!

Hi All,
Space crashes during configuration download, whereas haiku works just fine.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Quick question on Access Control: I have a system with two access card readers, and the door sensors are directly tied to those. When I log in through PCA I cannot see anything about the door sensors, however in Space Automation the two doors show up in the security page, and both of them show as Not Ready.

My understanding was that HAI does not track those doors, the access card readers do. So if we can't read them, could we remove them from the security page?

Thanks,

Unfortunately Space displays every 'zone type' on the Security page which is very annoying especially when the majority of Zones on the controllers are NOT security related. I have many Temperature & Auxiliary zones that show 'not ready'. Myself and others have requested 'non security' zones are not displayed as it adds no value & clogs the Security screen with useless information.

Currently the only method to remove 'unwanted' zones is to delete the name from the 'Name' field & put it in the 'Description' field within Hai setup but this does not work for Temperature sensors as when you do this the Sensors are also removed from the 'Climate' page in Space.

A simple 'hide' option in Space would be much easier for everyone :-)

This should be fixed in the next update. Thanks!

Thanks, we're looking into adding a hide feature.

Thanks for adding the audio volume percentage to the audio zone! I don't want to be picky or ungrateful, but could you move it above the slider instead of below it? In it's current location my finger/hand blocks it from view when I'm using the slider. If it were above the slider it wouldn't be obscured when using the slider.

Hey everyone, we might want to think of how this is going to be implemented and help Lupindale out before he puts a lot of time into it. If I understand it correctly, the zones are read dynamically by Space from the controller. In order to hide them we would likely have to do so for each and every zone we want hidden AND on every device on which Space is installed. Do we want to do that or perhaps add a special character to the zone description in the controller to tell Space to hide it? Something like a tick mark, e.g. Water Sensor`  The ` would tell Space not to display the zone on the security screen. I also suspect if we chose this method it would get implemented much quicker.

Another way to do it is to include a "Hide Aux zones from Security Display" setup parameter in Space. When Space reads the zones - IF it can determine the zone type is auxiliary then it would not be displayed on the security screen. The only drawback with this approach is that if there are any Aux zones which you DO want displayed on the security screen (I personally can't think of any, but you might) they would not show up. It would be all or nothing.

Regardless of what ever way the hiding of the Aux zones is implemented, I still want some method of viewing the status of the Aux zones from within Space, but not on the security screen.

Just some things to think about.

@fabtab: Thanks for your report. Would you be able to email the crash log to lupinglade at cyaneous dot com?
Hi Lupinglade,
Couldn't find the crash log but space has started working. Possibly due to an update?
Anyway all good now.

Thanks!

I have deleted cameras from the Extended Setup using PC access (and read the config from the controller to ensure they are actually gone) but they are still showing in Space and because they are Extended Setup, I cannot delete them. They are also still showing in Haiku Helper.
I have tried 'refresh configuration' and 'sync now' in both apps to no effect.

Provided you've written the extended setup to the controller, refreshing/clearing cache in Haiku should be all that is required. In HaikuHelper you just need to click Sync.
