TCP/IP IR controller

I am looking for a way to control my home theater equipment throughout the house without doing IR repeaters. My ideal solution would be a simple IR box that has runs to all of my components that also plugs into my network. I could have a box at each location I want to control (basement, bedroom, study etc) and the box would just register itself on the network. I could then setup each box a-la harmony remote to tell it what components it would need to control, macros for setting up a particular mode (like movie, TV or xbox) like a harmony remote. I would then want to be able to control it via a iPhone or iPod touch.

Is there anything like this?

I just found an interesting site here:
http://totalcontrolapp.com/index.php?optio...8&Itemid=92
looks pretty expensive for the hardware but it does what I was talking about (mostly).

Anyone had experience with this?
What else is there ?

I just ordered this product from Worthington:

iTach WiFi to IR from Global Cache.

Not sure if this is what you are looking for, but it seems pretty neat. In addition, I am attempting to use the software from Command Fusion to control my audio/video components.

Maybe someday all of our electronics will ditch the IR and go to wifi remotes where both the appliance and the remote maintaines a wireless wifi connection with your home wireless wifi router routing all of the commands as appropriate. Also, these could be two way communications so the remote would be able to keep track of whether its commands are being executed.

I thought that "some day" was comming with the Zigbee stuff?

This stuff looks great. I will do more research on these products before I purchase. There are way more options than I thought. Thanks everyone.

Anyone have any experience on the IRTrans devices? I'm about to pull the trigger on an IRTrans LAN Controller XL and I'd be interested in hearing any positive or negative feedback. I like that you have an IR database built into the device so you do not need a computer running to use it. I will be using it in conjunction with my Elk and ISY.

The XXL sure looks cool, quite a bit pricy though.

I am using an older Global Cache product http://www.globalcache.com/products/gc-100/ I bought off ebay. It is very early in my implementation of it but initial results are prommising.

Using Girder, and Net Remote (both of which support this product), I am able to use my VERY old Dell axim 5 to send IR commands to the AV components using my wifi netowork. Reliability is high and commands are responded to very quickly.

It also has a serial port which I have yet to play with.

not quite the same but I am using a digikey network to serial adapter and the IRA2 (I think they have IRA3s now) units to control my TVs.. The digikey give me 16 serial ports. Before that I was using a 8 port card from Moxa..

Serial is so old but lots of devices still use it so something like this will give you IR plus..
