I have some strings in tough spots, but these runs in/near the mechanical rooms are very straight. I don't even need a stepstool now, for most. The rods work like a charm.
The run over the HVAC supply trunks I've bridged with 4 runs of 2" conduit, and I can hook them with the rods. The space from 1 mechanical room to the other, over the basement bathroom ceiling, is about 20" tall, and I've constructed a ghetto raceway. Pull strings would add time, and just not as easy as rods. I should post some pics.
