TV Cable Switch/Relay

Is there such thing as a relay switch to turn a coaxial TV cable on/off?

For years I have been limiting my kid's TV time with X-10 appliance modules on TV power cords. But I recently bought a plasma monitor that is used for both TV and PC, therefore, I don't really want to cut power to the monitor anymore. I'd rather control the cable. Anybody know of a coax relay or some other way to automatically switch a coax?

Yes, they exist. They are typically called A/B switches as they aren't meant to turn something on & off, although they can be used for that. Some are IR controlled, some are hardwired, either through dry contacts or simply when power is applied. As I recall, you should be able to find something in the $10-$20 range. But a quick Google search didn't find anything, so we will need to come up with the right keywords.

Thanks guys.

Even though it's a little pricey, I will probably go with the RF splitter thingy from Home Controls since it looks like it will not require me to change my existing X-10 TV control scheme.
