Long story short, we had a break-in and they took a lot of things, including the TV off the wall.  Thanks to insurance, I'm in the market for a new TV.  I previously had a Samsung, and was just starting to learn how to control it via the EXLINK port, with moderate success.

I will be in the marked for a 7 or 8 series Samsung, or the equivalent in other brands.  Anyone have any suggestions in terms of what is controllable via Premise?

To clarify, I am talking Serial/Network control, preferably bi-directional. NOT IR control.

Thoughts?

I'm not that familiar with Premise, but look at LG!

Most (not all) LG TVs have a RS232 (used to be DB9, now 3.5mm) service port. Their full ASCII protocol for control is published and can be easily obtained via "lg rs232 protocol" searches in Google.

I went with Sony XBR 700D series. 3.5mm RS-232. Sony was helpful, sent the serial and  discrete IR commands.
