What are those things called?

What are those things called that you actually screw wires into on for Elk zones? They're the little green pieces that is actually where you screw your wires down, and I believe they're removable. I'd like to know what they're called so I can find a new one.

They are basically a terminal block. Do you need a replacement? If so drop me a PM and I will send one to you (let me know which one you need).

Phoenix connectors? They come in a multitude of shapes and sizes.

ya, those things... will one of those connect to the back of an AMX PCS2? I'll upload a photo when I get the chance.

Yes, that is definitely a phoenix connector. The real problem is that they come in 5.05mm and 5.00mm sizes. Hopefully some AMX manual will have the specs on the size. otherwise it is pretty hard to measure pin to pin, even with a caliper.

I'd bet if you take your AMX device on a little ride up to Automated Outlet, they can help you get the correct terminal block the first time around.

the ironic part of that is it's about 30 minutes each way for me to get up to AO in Lewisville over a lunch break... meanwhile, AMX headquarters is literally two blocks from my daughter's pre-school. it would be A LOT closer for me if I could get someone over there to answer my emails. the friend of mine who used to work there was part of the last round of lay-offs (apparently, AMX is having some financial trouble), so I don't have direct access anymore like I used to.

In my opinion a customer should be able to call AMX, expalin the situation, and have a replacement part dropped in the mail that day free of charge. Many other companies (ELK, HAI etc etc) do it that way and keep their customers happy. Granted both ELK and HAI would prefer the customer go through their dealer but I dont remember hearing where either company turned away a customer with a problem that is relatively easy to correct from a mfg standpoint.

well, i never thought about actually calling them ;)

i did so, and they were very helpful. he did confirm that it was indeed a standard 5mm 6-port phoenix connector, and even suggested where I could get one (Graybar? never heard of them, but i'll look).

kudos to AMX for helping out the little guy.

just for posterity, 123 has helped me figure out that the part is riacon 31049106.

i've queried a couple distributors, but they all only sell them in bulk, i.e., in lots of 100+ (at about $2.35 per piece). The only distributor willing to sell me less than 10 (I just want 2-3) was going to charge me $11.23 per part, a flat $15.00 shipping charge, and a special $25.00 fee for the special small order, to which I said, thanks but no thanks.

Anybody else have any ideas about where I might get my hands on one of these?
