Who has Nuvo Music Port?

**side question**

Anyone have a spare Grand Concerto keypad (dual gang kind, new or lightly used is fine) they'd like to sell? I'm investigating the potential of installing one outdoors in a weatherproof enclosure near the hot tub...

PM if you can help a brother out! I'm in Canada.

Cheers,
Scott

Scott,

I've got a few, all new. Me and a buddy both had left overs. I can't pm yet (newbie) but let me know if you are interested.

Noticed a new firmware for the Grand Concerto today

I8G_E6G_v2.62.exe 09-Apr-2010 11:27 2.8M

Figure I'll try it out this weekend, unless anybody has tried it out already? It might just be an IR library update, looking at the install...

I think I know the answer to this, but has the Configurator button to import settings from the Grand Concerto EVER worked for anybody? Seems like basic functionality that really should work?

I would really like it to function since I make a few tweaks to initial volume, party volume, etc etc at the keypads and then lose them when I want to add a Macro, or a Favorite, or apply a new firmware.

Yeah, it's always worked for me, the only time i've ever had a problem was when i was using a USB to serial converter, never with a straight serial connection. If it's able to download the configuration properly, but then seems to 'lose' it while you're updating it, you've forgotten to save. I think it mentioned that in the manual, so i've always made a habit of it, download config from concerto, save, then update what i want, save again, then update it.. when you do so it'll rename the file v1, v2, v3, etc..

as for the firmware updates, i just updated to 2.61.. didn't see 2.62, some of the source equipment went to newer versions with it.. (the wireless ipod dock went from 1.59 to 1.60), though i haven't noticed any new functionality either.. which reminds me i've got to call nuvo and see if they're able to fix the ipod dock, it gives me the 'not made for ipod' error when plugging in my 3gs into it... it'll go into airplane mode though i'll still be able to browse and play songs from it. I think it was apples wrongdoing though since it didn't used to happen before iphone os 3.1.XX

I'm debating an MPS4 purchase.

Pros and cons, need to figure out what is best for me.

Pros
1. Internet radio, now.
2. Prob more energy efficient than my PC.
3. Rack mount component vs current tower PC.
4. I could repurpose the dedicated music server PC, for a 2nd office PC (wife/kids).

Cons
1. $$$
2. Limited hard drive capacity, currently.
3. Redundant, I'd like to manage my music with another PC.
4. No FLAC support.

Wife said it could be my birthday present, but need to think about this more. I'm sick of waiting for Nuvo to come through with the MP FW update to provide the Radio Time source.

Boy I hear you on that one! I really don't think Nuvo/MCS will deliver the FW (vaporware) as promised so long ago. That said, the price of the MPS4 just....hurts....

Sorry if I missed it - how functional is Pandora using the KP?

It's...not. You have to start Pandora under Mirage or Musicport software, and then you can skip (up to 6) songs on the keypad, mark a song as 'don't like' or 'like', but that's about it. You can't start Pandora from a keypad, and you can't select any of your stations from a keypad. In fact, it doesn't even show up as a source on my keypads. At least, that's the way it is on my GC. It's very frustrating. What's more frustrating is this: When I was running the two week trial of MCS/Mirage (without entering your License), Pandora was very functional. You could see it as a source on the keypads, you could select your individual channels etc. It seems as if we've gone backwards really. Yes now you can have Pandora for longer than the two week trial, but control it from a keypad? Fugetaboutit!
