Wired HVAC Control?

I just finished setting up my new Elk M1G and connected up the eKeypad app. I would love to be able to control our thermostat from anywhere in the house through eKeypad. I currently have a standard 7 day programmable thermostat connected to a single A/C unit and furnace. Most of the thermostats I've been reading about which were Z-wave, UPB, etc.. all cost about $200 - $250. I wasn't sure if there are any cheaper wired ones available to connect to the Elk. My wife really likes the look of the Nest, but it doesn't look like there is an easy way to connect that to the Elk. I have seen the HAI Omnistat which looks pretty cool but it is also about $200. Are there any hardwired thermostats worth using that are under $100? When talking to the guys at AO they had an Intermatic CA8900 for around $40, but from what I've seen it is only Z-wave.

Thanks!

The original OminStat, not the OmniStat2. Got mine for right about $90 on ebay. Isn't quite as good a looker but works at about 95% accuracy with my elk (about 4% of the non working time I attribute to some messy connecting I did on my part). I did this even though the OmniStat2 was out purely to save money.

I picked up an HAI Omnistat RC-122 off of eBay, and it looks like it's missing the COM cable. Is there a simple replacement piece I can find for this cable (it looks almost like a 4 pin computer fan connector) ? In terms of single and 2 stage controls, if I have a single stage HVAC system, can I still use this 2-stage control?

Thanks!
