Wiring without a crawlspace?

My folks just bought a new 2-story house with a concrete slab foundation. How would one install hardwired sensors? Am I way over my head in wanting to take on that project, and just get a local alarm contractor to do it?

rfdesq is right, without a crawl space or basement, you are going to have to remove baseboard/crown molding and cut drywall to run some sensors. If you are cool with this, then go for it! But it will be messier and take longer than a two story with a crawl space.
