Any info Thin Clients?

And as an alternative to the box con screen scenario you could just do a single touchscreen appliance. Selfishly suggesting Borg Displays on XPe BUT only as an in-wall solution...not a kid's browsing/word processor - anyone recall that term? sounds like a mix-o-matic.

Anyway, quite a bit less power than 9W but robust and reliable. Have alot of experience with thin clients on a variety of OS types and believe in them wholeheartedly too. I go back to the scenario of why take a 747 from LA to Scottsdale when a 727 or less is far better suited. Past this - reliability is a HUGE factor. The genre resonates "appliance-like" uptime.

Borg,
Quick two quick questions on your panel:
1. Does it come (if not, can it be installed) Internet Information Services (IIS)?
2. How about Windows Media Player?
Thanks.

Media Player 10

BKLLC,

With all due respect. I think with embedded XP and not using RDC then there is still a use for these 9 Watt machines. espscially as touchscreen machines or low consumption simple network attached workstations like the OP is looking to do.

I would like them to be able to do homework there, search the web, and be able to use programs such as Word.

save all data to a USB drive or network share and he is up and running a low cost low power (yes also less horsepower too...) but for the limited applications he is looking for IMHO it is perfect.

I agree with you on that I just wouldn't be using them for his kids PC as he originally described. The low cost of hardware and the benefits of a standalone system outweigh any benefits in my opinion.

Does anyone have a HP t5720 mounted in a wall? How much heat comes off one of these? Also what is magicJack and do I need it? Last question... will XPE go into standby like a desktop PC will with Wake on Mouse?

MagicJack is a CHEAP VOIP phone service provider, internet -> home -> computer-> USB adapter -> phones
