debug lights turning on HLC w omnipro 2

If lights are turning on in the middle of the night for no reason, it might be something besides UPB doing that. UPB is really solid from a reliability end, but noise on the line still can cause problems.

So is it the same light that is causing problems or multiple lights? What UPB switch model do you have?  Is the controlled bulb(s) incandescent, CFL, or LED?

something which hasn't sat well with me is i thought it was shortly after i was trying to adjust an outside photocell/low voltage transformer for my outside lights, that i started seeing this strange behaviour with my inside lights.

are those photocell/lv tranformer units known to cause noise?

I'll try unplugging them for the day and see if that has any effect anyways.

It would really be a minor miracle to be getting random unit activations on UPB.  It would be much more likely that the line noise just wouldn't let normal intended commands to reach their destination.

UPB is a much longer data stream than older tech like X-10, and has checksum digits that make units toss out bogus commands.

Well, I finally got the necessary cables to hook up UPStart.  Unfortunately I still have a few lights which sporadically turn on.  Sometimes all at once, sometimes just one.   When I look at the UPB log, nothing shows up at all.  If there was upb signal coming from another residence, that should show up within my logs to, wouldn't it?  I think I'll try replacing the most problematic switch and see if that helps me narrow down the issue.

Any other ideas?

thanks,
craig

Have you performed a network discovery using UPStart?  This will show you every device in your UPB system.
