HAI integration with ZWave

I am looking for the correct equipment to purchase to integrate ZWave with a HAI Omni IIe. My general understanding is that a ZWave controller is needed and this connects via serial (ewww) to the Omni IIe. Is there an ethernet alternative? I would much (much much) rather everything run over my cat6 network rather than stringing serial cables all over the place.

Also, is any special software needed to configure this once I have the controller and a few devices. I have some lamp modules I plan to test with then I will move up to replacing all of my wall switches.

Thanks again in advance for all of the great advice!

Nexus,

You'll need a Leviton ViziaRF RZCOP serial interface...you only need to connect one cable from the serial port on the Omni to the RZCOP, then plug the RZCOP into an outlet. It's not messy at all, and you can easily fit everything inside your can. You'll also need a Handheld controller to enroll all your devices.

HAI recommends and support Leviton ViziaRF products, as they work well and we worked with Leviton to make sure of it. You have to use the Leviton Serial Interface, but you can purchase any other devices you want. If you want 2-way feedback, you need to be careful what brands you pick, because some handle reporting feedback slightly differently. I'm not sure what lamp modules you've purchased, but I would recommend trying to stick with one brand if you can (I'm a big believer in the KISS principle).

I've heard some talk about some ethernet based controllers and "bridges", but I haven't seen anything yet.
