CQC will look as good or as bad as the UI that you opt to use with it. If you check out the personal site in my sig, you'll see a ton of 800x600 screens; that's all I use.
My Stylistic 3400 has a touchscreen driver, and interprets presses as mouseclicks. I've never actually used one hooked up to a regular PC, but I can't imagine it'd be much different.
