Issues staying logged in

From what I've seen posted in this folder, it looks like you lose your login if your IP address changes. Unfortunately, because I use a laptop and connect from home and work and other various locations, that means my IP address changes a lot. Is there any way to avoid being logged out like this, or do I just need to keep logging in over and over again?

I regularly visit several other forums and I don't seem to have this problem on any of them.

Thanks,
Brett

It should work, I log in from home and work as well (just tested it again to be sure). What browser do you use? I have noticed more of these problems since Firefox 3 was released. Use the link on the bottom of the main forum page to wipe out the cookies (do this on both systems), then log in again and see if the issue still exists.

I use IE7, so it should be pretty standard. I'm not certain that I get logged out every time I go from home to work and back, but I do know that I seem to get logged out pretty frequently and when I saw the other posts here I suspected that was the issue. I'll go ahead and clear the cookie now and also keep an eye on it to see if it happens when I go from one place to another or if it's something else.

Thanks,
Brett

Ok, somehow I missed that you were using the same system. There is indeed a security setting which locks the cookie down to your connection. I can disable this, but it would allow someone to hijack your session if they could access/copy your cookie. Probably not a big deal for most people, but it is enabled. I'll do some research and see what can be done, but unless there are many other people having this issue, I am not sure if I would disable this.

Logging in frequently isn't the end of the world and I'm very glad that the "Today's active topics" link works whether I'm logged in or not as that's what I usually use to keep current... that way I can only log in if I need to actually post something.

It would certainly be more convenient if I could stay logged in, and the chances of someone hijacking my session are probably pretty slim... and the chances of anyone doing anything really terrible if they did hijack my session are probably even slimmer, but I can deal with the frequent logins if you want to keep that enabled. At least now I know why it's happening:)

Thanks,
Brett
