Haiku need help with proximity detection

i have enabled the proximity detection on the haiku app, now i have Omni Pro II, and have set up some programming that will arm the system when the proximity detection sets off a flag(both of us leave the house), my problem is that it works great on my iPhone but for some reason it doesn't want to set off the flag on my wife's iPhone. Now what happens is that I leave and my wife stays home and it will arm the system while she is home and will go off because it won't recognize that she is still home. can anyone help me resolve this problem. I have seperated flags set up for each of our phones too.

What model is your wife's phone?

Check that Haiku isn't blocked from using location services in the phone's Settings.

Is the radius and location set the same on both devices?

we both have iphone 4's, i have checked and rechecked all the settings but just can't seem to figure it out.

the radius and location is set the same in both devices but just can't get hers to set the flags on and off. I only use it to arm the house when we leave because it just doesn't recognize that we are home fast enough to use it to disarm.

That's very strange. And the phone is connected to cell service?

This feature uses cell towers to detect location changes, not GPS. You can tweak response time by tweaking the radius -- by setting the right radius size you should be able to get it to disarm in time. It really depends on the layout/location of cell towers in your neighbourhood in relation to your home.

huh well i have a cell tower within 1/2 a mile of me, and what is really weird is that my phone works fine but hers is the issue, i am gonna double check her phone settings again tonight and see if i overlooked something, thanks for the response. and i didn't know that the radius was adjustable until you mentioned it and will play with it to adjust the response time.

by the way I love the Haiku APP!!

i checked everything again last night, i even toggled the location services under haiku on and off a few times, i adjusted the radius area to a bit larger than i had before, and still nothing works, my wife works about 20 miles from our house and has been there for more than 2 hours today and her flag is still set to "ON". Mine is still working fine by the way. her phone is connected to cell serivice and besides toggling this flag the APP works flawlessly from her phone. any other suggestions that i might can try? Should i try and delete and reinstall the APP?

I'm not sure, if location services aren't off for Haiku in iOS's Settings.app, it should work fine. Do you see a location indicator in the status bar on your wife's phone?

Have you tried restarting the phone?

the location services arrow is on and it also shows that haiku has requested the location in the last 24 hours ( it is purple) i just restarted her phone, maybe that will help, i also reinstalled the app this afternoon but that didn't help, i also just changed the flag to another one, i am just pulling at straws now.

Check where she places the phone while driving. Perhaps it can't get a signal from there. For example, from a purse in the trunk might not work.

I changed the flag to another flag number and reassigned it in the haiku settings and now it is working fine so far...........

@Joe: Well, its just a flag, so you can react to it as you wish once it goes ON (in proximity) or OFF (Out of proximity).

For example you could just arm/disarm the security system. You can do this right in PC Access (on the controller).

Do you mean you want code for HaikuHelper to do this without PC Access/the controller's built in programming?

yea i just set up the flag's for it, one for me and one for my wife,haiku turns them on and off based on your location to the controller. the programming basicly just says that if we are both away (both flags off) arm the system and turn everything off, and a "if condition" not to do anything if one of us is home. you can also set it to do the opposite once you come back home, but i have elected to just disarm everything with the opening of the garage doors, Haiku doesn't always turn off my wife's flag for some reason or has a delayed response even after changing the flags that it uses. ( i am tired of fighting it), anyway some say that you shouldn't disarm the system with the garge door opener because they are not totally secure, but if i have someone scanning and copying my garage door frequencies, i probably have greater things to worry about!

back to the subject, when it works it works great, cause my wife is real lazy about setting the alarm, and it basicly tells it self when no one is home and to arm the system. i have also set up my NUVO system to tune to her favorite station when she comes home and then to mine once i come home. now when we come home together we kinda bet on who the system is going to favor, LOL.

While I don't have much to add since I don't use Haiku and don't even use an omni, I will say that both my wife and I have 4S's, both brand new the day they released, hers white and mine black... and in the beginning they performed comparably, but in the last couple months, I've noticed very clearly that even with the phones sitting side-by-side, they get very different GPS results. Mine sometimes doesn't see GPS at all and has to wait for some wifi locks it can match (it can go miles without updating its location). Also - the GPS app I used a few times is now useless - it can't keep up with where I'm at, so it just assumes I'm in the middle of the city and gives weird results. I have no idea what's to blame, but I can second that two identical phones with identical settings can behave very differently! If I ever figure it out, I'll come back here and give an update.

Now that I got that out of the way...
I'm curious about this setup as well (I don't personally have a HAI). How far do you have to be from the house for it to "sense" you're not home?

I have an issue with my wife "forgetting" to arm the house even with a keyfob she could use from the car. How much easier I can make it, I don't know. Whenever I leave before her I have to connect to my network to check the camera to see if she left yet and if the house is armed. Not convenient....for me!
