NuVo Grand Concerto IR Commands for 3rd Party Devices

Ok, so this is mainly followup from another discussion I was having in the MPS4 thread, but it was basically totally off topic and not MPS4 related so I figured I'd put it in its own thread...

Well, you guys were right. It was easy to get the software from NuVo. Picked up a USB-Serial Converter from Fry's and I was off to the races. Got my sources renamed, no problem.

Now, as far as controlling my CD Player goes. Ace is pointing out that I can do an IR passthrough from the keypads to the device - which isn't quite what I want to do. I want to have those codes known to the GC, so that when I use the buttons on the keypad (to change track or play/pause), That it tells the CD Player to do that.

Well, there are SOME built in IR libraries, but they are very limited. However, you can easily add a device, and you don't need the learning station to add the codes, you can add Hex Codes directly. Well, Google found me the hex codes (thanks to the guys at remotecentral), and I got them added. I can taste victory.

However, whenever I try to edit a button macro (which is what I need to do to make the 'forward' button execute the 'next track' command, the configurator software hangs up. That's where I am now. Allegedly, some macro editing window is supposed to open which is where I can create/edit these macros, but I get the hourglass and nothing happens.

I'm running this on an Acer Aspire One netbook, and am a longtime Mac guy not a windows guy, so the troubleshooting on this machine is not something I have a lot of experience with. Anyone else have any trouble with the macro editing window?

So here's the deal on the software problem. Two days ago, I got the same hangup, but then got distracted by my wife and got doing something else. Came by the computer a day later, and lo-and-behold, the macro editing screen was up. Turns out the computer is so slow it literally takes an HOUR to get that window up. Well, I have a few commands to add and only got a few in yesterday. Should be able to finish it off today, then I'll upload it and see if they actually work. I'll post updates here.

Success. It seemed sketchy as I was pasting Hex codes into the GC software, but it totally works.

If any zone is playing the 'CD Player' input, you can use the left and right arrow keys to skip tracks, and hold to search through tracks. Play/pause, well it plays and pauses the CD Player.

Not really useful for me, since I have an MPS4, but maybe someone will find this handy.
