Hi zzazzles,
Thank you for noting that...
When I talk about compatibility, I am always referring to the currently release version. The article refers a version that is 3, almost 4 years old.
Since this was a new install the assumption was that it was a new version. I also mentioned how to get the latest version if you are reinstalling an only have an old CD. I probably should have started with "make sure you have the latest version..." and told them how to get it.
But just to be clear, the current release is compatible with everything from XP to 8, 32 and 64 bit.
You can always get the latest version by requesting a resent of you registration information as noted in my previous post.
If you are upgrading to a new PC you can do this:
After transferring your "...Documents\HAI\PC Access\" folder and sub folders to your new PC, browse to the "...Documents\HAI\PC Access\_download\" folder. Find and run the newest Setup_HAI_Dealer_PC_Access_3.exe installer.
Whenever PC Access checks for updates it downloads the latest installer and places it in the above mentioned directory. This is also convenient for machine upgrades or any time you need to reinstall PC Access.
Another benefit of using the above mentioned technique is that when you transfer the PC Access documents folder to the new machine you have all your old account files, and config files which also eliminates the "I forgot my security stamp" problem that started this thread.
I think this would make a good KB article...
I hope this is helpful.
