RFID, Elk M1 and car keys, is this possible?

If add a RFID reader to my Elk, is it possible to use the RFID chip in my car keys (Dodge) to identify myself? Or are they a completely different format? Has anybody tried this?

Completely different standards.

I agree with ano, but some people may get lucky with some things. I have heard of people being able to use their work RFID badge on an Elk system. YMMV. My work badge doesn't work at home.

I don't know for sure, but its likely ELK uses standard off-the-shelf 125 KHz RFID tags which are fairly widely used elsewhere.
