That was weird!

We've had an M1G for a couple years now and when we set the alarm at night to STAY mode the speaker anounces that the system is armed in "STAY" mode and the keypad display shows "ARMED STAY". Tonight everything was the same except the word STAY was replaced with "NIGHT" both in the speaker announcment and on the keypad. That was weird since I haven't changed or upgraded anything. Anyone else encounter something like this before?

When you press stay twice it goes into night mode...

To clarify, each time you press the Stay button, it cycles through any enabled stay modes - stay, night, night instant. Same with the Away button

In the two years that we've had the Elk, we've never used the other stay modes and I'd simply forgotten about them. I must have triggered the night mode with an inadvertent double press. Time to dig out the Elk manual and give myself a refresher course. Thanks for the replies.

There really isn't a difference between stay and night mode from what I remember. I use it because I trigger events depending on what mode it is in. For example, I'll turn down the thermostat set points when the system is armed "Night", but not when it is armed "Stay". But the actual alarm and sensors work the same in both of those armed states.

There is also "Armed Away" and "Armed Vacation" which works the same way. Again, there is no difference in the alarm, but I will set the thermostat setpoints down further when it is "armed vacation" than when it is "armed away."

The difference is that you can set the alarm definition for certain zones to only trip during night mode but not stay mode (I.e. motions in basement, etc).

Yep, I have motion sensors in my basement and garage that won't go off in Stay mode, but will at night.
