I looked at the homepage (http://www.controlthink.com)
... no links to any info on the product or demo?
... only a buy now link...

huh?

There is some additional info in the forums ;) .

You kind of have to do some reading though.

Aaron,

We're working on an "online product brochure" for ThinkEssentials, but in the meantime here are some links for you:

I have looked at the website a few times myself and never really understood anything about the product: what it does, with what, and how?? I thought it was just me being in too much of a hurry.

I've been using ThinkEssentials for a while now, it is kind of cool for Z-Wave control.

What I have works with a HA22 USB stick (controller). Basically, you draw the rooms of your house and when you start it up, little icons for your devices appear showing levels and such. You place the icons where they belong in the house and after that you can see all of your devices at one glance. There are some other options like having timed events, Chris can probably explain that better than I can.

If you want to switch something on or change a level you just click on the icon and a control pops up.

Chris,
thanks for the links but that really did not help. Kinda like trying to sell my house by giving prospective buyers a picture of the outside and telling them it has 6 rooms inside. Not going to work without a complete feature list and an in person viewing.

I'm interested in many items including, but not exclusive of...

What it has to offer compared to other software available.

Interoperability with standards (.NET, scripting, etc) for use with other apps (Vista Media Center integration, Girder, etc).

Future planned features

etc...

Aaron,

We'll get more info up in the near future. In the meantime, the software is basically designed for the everyday homeowner (although it's a great diagnostics and everyday tool for hobbyists and enthusiasts). It lets you draw a floormap, lay out your devices, command and control your network, set up scenes and groups, and set up timed events (such as turning on a scene at sunset).

It controls up to 231 devices and is Z-Wave Certified.

For a larger home control system, what you want is our ThinkBox technology. If you're looking to "roll your own system", the Z-Wave PC SDK is what you're looking for.

We hope to make the ThinkBox software available for PCs at some point in the future, at which time you'd be able to use it to control multiple systems (Z-Wave, AV, etc.) from touchpanels, media centers, etc.

Chris

P.S.

The "Pro" version of ThinkEssentials features a bunch of really nice installer and diagnostics tools. We introduced the product last April (as the first Z-Wave installer tool), and are looking forward to seeing it used heavily in the coming months...

Chris

Is is possible to use thinkessentials in conjunction with the SDK? I'd like to keep thinkessentials running for some scheduled tasks (e.g .turn on/off porch lights), and at the same time, use the SDK for experimenting.

Also, is the pro version available for sale for non-installer folks?
