From what I've read, it syncs with other PCs on your network to its 320GB internal drive.
Seriously?? Nuvo is discontinuing the MP...ok..nobody ever buy what i buy..first ALC a few weeks ago and now MP..WTF!!
I haven't read up much on the Music Port server...but assume it's terribly more expensive.. do you load the music onto it or can it play from a NAS?
The reason i ask is that my music library (which the MP uses) is located on my server. But my desktop itunes accesses it as well. The way it currently works is that if my wife buys a new song from itunes it makes it into the normal library and with the next Music Port scan..which it seems to do every 15 minutes or so it automatically becomes available for the MP and shows on the webGUI and keypads. I REALLY like this feature and wonder if the MPS can actually do this?
In the end if i were to have the music library stored on my server what is the point of the MPS..it would just 'play' the music..just like the MP does.
Can somebody PM me the access info for the new prozone/support section..i want to download the latest MP software.
I think I read somewhere that the MPS4 only provides 3 sources, while I have my MP configured for 4.
Phone MC at AO for current special of 1K off MSRP.
I'll stick with my MP, if I can get internet radio.
Weird stuff tonite -
I finally got a chance to start stress testing and ran 2 large MP3 Playlists from the HTPC to the MP.
The first stream plays fine. The second stream is weird - it plays the music fast, skipping its way through the song at rapid speed!?! This is new - now I'm just not sure if its related to the MusicPort software change or something else.
If I go with one stream only, things are fine. Its the instant that I try for 2. Very, very odd. I may roll back the MP software on the weekend to determine if its a MusicPort or a Delta soundcard issue.
Thanks, Broconne. Can't find the link, I should have double checked. I think it was in a recent Renovia press release, which was (now) obviously a typo.I think I read somewhere that the MPS4 only provides 3 sources, while I have my MP configured for 4.

MPS4 provides 4 zones.
Take a close look at the MPS4, would be easier than maintaining and configuring a dedicated music server PC.
If you use the MP, you'll need, I think, at least 2 dedicated serial ports on the PC - 1 for control, and the other for programming. Maybe it can be done with 1, but I'm using 2, via an Edgeport/2 USB-serial adapter.
You're probably better off with the MPS4, than the MP, because of the lack of FW updates, if the MP is discontinued. I'd like to keep my Nuvo GC for a good 15 years, if possible, and who knows what online music services will be offered in the future, that I won't have access to, without FW updates.
Important: can someone confirm if MusicPort requires a "dedicated" server? Would there really be an issue running CQC and/or a couple other server apps on the same machine assuming the PC is powerful enough?
Thanks!
Hey Speed,
I'm running Xlobby/Girder and I watch movies from the HTPC that also runs the musicport software. No performance issues noted to date, and I have a older AMD 4600+ CPU and 3 GB's of RAM. (I found that the extra ram helped things, tho - I used to have just 1GB before installing the MusicPort.)
hope that helps
Can the Radio button do anything else, besides possibly Pandora?
