Who has Nuvo Music Port?

I agree with Neurorad...the pandoa isnt not great yet..but it's something. I didn't realize that when using the Mirage rather than Nuvo branded control you got much better funtionality (but only during the trial i guess).

Is the support for for Pandora under MPS4 better?

I don't have a real basis to conclude this on, but I have the feeling that Nuvo's commitment to the MP is fading..

What i really want is for Pandora to show up as a source so you can manipulate it through the serial control protocol...without that it's all a awkward..

ok gents...i've been having some odd issues.

The WebGUI wont connect to the server anymore...it just sits there saying 'attempting to connect'.

Similarly the Music Port Client app is no longer connecting.

At some point it looked like it was trying connect to some other IP that didnt look familiar. But I didnt see this again....

Anybody else seeing this behavior?

I have restarted the server and tried those type of steps...I have not reinstalled the MCS server yet...that would be the next step..but i wanted to check in with you guys first.

Other parts of the server are working.. with CQC i am connecting through MCS to the Nuvo...

I just noticed a cannot access the music library from the keypads either, when switching to the MP sources it says 'Connecting to Source'.

I read something that sounded kind of nuts at remotecentral, about the replacement for the MPS4.

Replacement?! It just came out!

Here are an installer's posts, from RC:
I'm told FLAC will be supported in an upcoming "fuller featured" model and/or firmware update.
I've seen the pre-release iPod app that should be here by summer. Pretty slick.
Valid point on the scrolling. The web interface and iPod app overcome this.
Larger storage would be nice, but most of our clients are covered with the 320GB.

It won't be a replacement, it will be an upgraded option.
Larger hard drive, cloud streaming, video output and stand alone 3rd party control for integration outside of a NuVo system.

Maybe I can force him to reveal his source...

Or maybe NuvoPete is screwing with me.

I hadn't powered cycled the amp, but did that now and no difference.

The problem is that i'm not really sure when it stopped working, so i havent got a clue as to why this might be the case. I was gone for a month and the wife said it was fine.. but i havent changed anything since i've been back...

Earlier in this thread some people seem to have had similar problems and fixed it by doing a full re-install of the OS, but with this also being my SageTv and CQC server that is not really an option.

I suspect a windows update may have caused this..it's the only thing that i can think of. Does anybody remember the dependencies of the MP? Doesn't it need certain .NET packages and such?

I am fairly sure I already know the answer (which is no), but I will ask anyway... If I purchase the MCE-EX and Polytune upgrade, will I be able to use Sirius and Pandora directly from a GC tochpad? I know I can do it from Mirage, but obviously I want to do it without a PC...
Also, has anyone heard anything about the Iphone app lately?

Thanks

Wayne

So i have been away from home and not messed with the MP much..but the problem still persists...

Also the iTunes on the server where MCS runs always stays open for some reason..when it scans the library it opens it up but then doesnt close it....anybody else seeing this happen? Since it's a headless machine i wouldnt care that much...but that itunes shares a library file with the one on the kitchen PC (both use the music on the server) and if one is open the other wont start.. :)

So i reloaded an a server image from some weeks back and the Music Port is working again...not sure what i did to break it...but it's working again...

One think i noticed and wanted to crosscheck with other users:

If the whole system (not the server but the E6G or GC, etc) is off and you load up the Music Port WebGUI, if you then try to turn a zone on will it work on the first push? On mine it doesn't. It seems the interface goes to sleep or something and it needs a command to wake up. Once it's awake you can turn all off and then it will respond right away to an on command...then it seems to time out again and go sleepy.

I find this annoying since i use CQC with Text To Speech announcement which use the paging trigger, when CQC sends a page sometime it works, sometimes it doesn't because of this (depending on how it's been since the last command).

Glad to hear it's fixed, Mav.

I bit the bullet, and ordered the MPS4.

I'm busy for a couple weeks, but I hope to have it up and running soon.

Hey all. New to the site.

Been using the GC and MP since 9/09. Initially having no real problems. Recently with the download of the most recent MCS software I am having a significant delay when I start a playlist. Used to be instantaneous, but now when I go to a playlist and go to the first song and start it I get a loading screen and then it goes back to the playlist for a variable length of time (sometimes up to a minute or more on a long list). During this time the playlist is on the screen and volume cannot be adjusted. Eventually (after the delay of a minute or more) the metadata comes up and all is normal. Is anyone else having this with the .99 version of the MCS software?

Running
.99 MCS software
Windows XP
v2.62 GC firmware
iTunes 9.1

I tried to downgrade to the original .65 MCS software I had, but it will not play a playlist. It shows the playlist, but when you start the first song in the list it shows it is song 1 of 1 and repeats without playing the whole list.

Thanks for any help !!

Hey SoonerDoc...welcome to the size...

Is your question related to selecting a Playlist from the keypad or via the Music Port Client or WebUI?

Did you original version never play a playlist?

I have noticed that the Setup file seems to go online and download the latest version..so I am not sure it is still possible to install an 'old' version...maybe if you're not online during the install..i havent tried that yet.

I don't really use playlists...but can make one and test with it...about how many song were on your list?

I am itunes 9.0.3.15

Glad to hear it's fixed, Mav.

We took a lightning hit recently, so I am prob going to add in the MPS4 while in the process of replacing several other components.

I am interested in whether the "Radiotime" service will actually work as a replacement for the T2 tuner's FM radio (which we use frequently). At the Radiotime website, my local stations are there, and I can stream them to my PC without problems.

And I am, of course, interested in how well the Pandora implementation will work.

Neurorad, keep us informed! Did you buy one or more of the CTP36 LCD's?

Is no one else upset about the failed promises of Nuvo?

I first contacted Nuvo Tech Support on October 9, 2009 and was told:

"The internet radio functionality and XM Radio will be available first with the release of the Music Port Server and then will be available for the Music Port immediately after that. " - email quote.

On August 7, 2009 Neurorad contact Nuvo Tech Support and here is the response:

"I received a reply from Nuvo tech support (Ted Brasier), after I asked about what functions are to be expected in the MP update (Q4 per NuvoPete).

He said:

"Here is what will be supported...

Pandora - it isn't a paid-only service

Radio Time - over 100,000 free stations

Sirius online

XM online""

Q4 2009 - right!

On November 11, 2009, Neurorad posted:

"The sales guy I spoke with (eastern regional sales manager Kevin Davis) said the MP FW upgrade will follow the MP Server release, so watch for that."

Yet to date there has been no upgrade to the Music Port.

Then on January 29, 2010 Neurorad posted:

"Ted Brasier from Nuvo Tech Support says Radio Time (internet radio), Pandora, XM, and Sirius will be integrated with new Music Port software, to be released at the same time as the new MPS4 Music Port Server, due to release in Feb."

Still, no update to date.

Jautor, also on January 29, 2010 posted:

"they did confirm (again) that Pandora, XM/Sirius, ad RadioTime will come to the Music Port. New info was that the standalone MusicPort apparently will be discontinued in favor of the new server."

This was announced in a Nuvo Web Training session he attended.

On march 11, 2010 Neurorad posted a response to an email sent to Nuvo:

"It will probably be available in June or July. There is still some development going on with it that allows it to function like the Music Port Server.

Regards,

Kevin Davis | Eastern Regional Sales Manager"

Still no update....

User "Autonomic" - who had stated he would try to help address Music Port issues, was last seen on the forums 8th August 2009.
User "NuvoPete" - who claimed to be from Nuvo Technical Support, was last seen on the forums 6th July 2009.

We all know the functionality already exists in the Autonomic software, and now in the MPS, so why no release it to us who forked over money for the MP?

I've lost all faith in Nuvo Technologies and their empty promises. If I had to do it all over again, I would not choose, nor recommend, a Nuvo system to anyone.

I like their equipment, but their effort on the Music Port is certainly a bit below par. I am not making excuses for them, but i guess the coorperation between them and Autonomic may not be as easy for efficient as one would hope.

My E6G and TX-FXG tuners are just fine and performing well and any support call related to them has been handled well. It just seems that with the MP Nuvo and Autonomic play the fingerpointing game.

It will be interesting to see the performance (device and support) on the MPS4. Is it an 'All Nuvo' device or still has the Autonomic Name on it as well?
