Question on security

Looks like of the uplink models, only the 1650 provides detailed reporting as provided by the contact ID format. The other models only connect to the bell/siren output and react to voltage when the siren goes off.

I'm going to do a little research on the other wireless monitoring hardware NextAlarm is compatible and will report back on those units also.

Per NextAlarm, "All we need in order to activate your Uplink dialer is its ESN number (serial number)."

For just $7.50 more per month, I think that this is a service a lot of cocooners may be interested in.

Except for the new model the digital 1650 that should be released soon.

AlarmNet-C (model ALARMNET 7845CV2) will send full contact ID information, but needs to be programmed by a dealer with your account information before it will work.

AlarmPath devices do not send full Contact ID information (triggers based on bell/siren output voltage).

Do you have a link to any information on the Digital 1650 model?

I'm still considering just using the ABN Broadband Adapter as there is no additional monthly fee and it will set off an alert to the central monitoring station if my internet connection goes down.

If I could find a 1650 for <$100, I'd probably buy it, though.

I only have a couple of emails from the company. How does the ABN send an alert if your internet connection is down? Does it default to the phone line? I think the digital 1650 is going to be several hundred dollars.

The ABN is costantly monitored by nextalarm. If nextalarm looses contact with your abn, they will respond according to your setup.

How often does NextAlarm poll the alarm via the ABN adapter?

If it is more than every few minutes - then it would seem pretty ineffective!
