ELK devices arriving today at 3pm

Version is 1.6.6.

Loading of the software is fine. I can even see the 4 accounts. I go to setup menu and select COM1. After that, I double-click on the Typical Account then it says Retrieving Account information. Then from there, I modify the 00000000 serial number to reflect my ELK's serial number, then I click on Connection, then I click Direct using COM1. It will display the window below:

By the way Steve, thanks for helping me :)

and also, looking at page 50 on the manual, how will I be able to update the firmware if I keep getting the error I posted earlier even if I try to click retry or ignore. It doesn't do anything. If I hit close, it will close it but it will leave the ELKRP process running in the system. I have to go to Task Manager to kill it. ;)

IIRC, the new versions of firmware require a later version of RP. So I am just guessing that maybe you got a new panel with latest firmware but an older copy of RP. You can just run the RP upgrade and see what happens. See PM for details on the RP upgrade.

BAM! I was able to get in. :)

Now, I need to go back to ELK's computer based training. ;)

Thanks Steve!

4.4.4 is the latest so you are good. Looks like your pc time was wrong since I think thats what gets put into the Date Installed field. When you get your modules/expanders hooked up and enrolled, you may need to upgrade the firmware on those.

Kind of strange is that there should be little icons in front of the words/sections in the tree list (Folder Items).

My computer's time is correct. I also was got confused when I saw the date. I loaded 1.6.10 again on the other laptop and the date is still 1/1/2004. Is that populated by us?

About the icons on the tree list, it is now showing up on the folder list.

I think it's the default of ELKRP. When you put in a serial number and sync it up it puts in the current date. However, it is changeable.

I remember you told me on the other thread that I with the basic M1, I can send a test signal. How do I test M1 to call my cell phone? I would just like to know if I was able to figure out RJ31 properly. Thanks.

I beleive you need to enter the date manually....

For testing the rj31 pick up a house phone and press **** and you should hear the system asking for authorization code. also if you have it configured for telephone access then you should beable to call in from you cell phone (depending on your settings) and also access the system.

Yep, I did that and it worked.

I connected my plain old telephone to the RJSET jack/box, pins 1 & 8, and I was able to get a tone. I tried dialing 4 asterisks (****) and I didn't hear ELK system respond but what responded was my telephone provider(Comcast).

Make sure you have enabled telephone remote control in Global programming with a value of "2" before the *** will work.

The 01/01/2004 is a date that is manually set when the system is installed using ELKRP.

M1 version 4.4.4 requires the latest ELKRP 1.6.10.

This thread marks the second time I've heard about the Elk self-paced training discs. I just rechecked the packaging and I didn't get those. Are they part of a particular SKU?

I clicked on Globals in RP and I see 2 in Telephone control. And also, I couldn't find the place to correct the time. My time in the display is an hour advance.

for the time offest problem: ok, is your timezone correct under automation, sunrise/sunset?

now back to phone problem..... do you get dial tone when you lift receiver? is the rj jack at the service enterance (or the phone you are trying with on the house side of the M1?)

phone co ----- RJ jack -----M1-----(back to) RJ jack------Phones
