M1 Time-of-Day Clock Daylight Time issue?

Off here too. Spanky where are you... :D

Yep, same here. Looks like Elk still doesn't have their DST dates correct.

But the true blame goes to dubya for pushing those DST changes to "save money" no consideration to the IT costs to make those changes across the country....

So after reading this, it occurred to me that my M1 is on DST as well. The clock displays the correct time, but that's because I set it every night at 3:15AM from my computer. So I added a rule to speak at sunset, and sure enough, the M1 thought sunset was at 7:30PM not 6:30PM - this explains why my outside lights where coming on when I opened the front door at 7:00AM :D

Setting a fixed date of March 14th for DST start worked as a circumvention. No doubt there are other ways to deal with the issue; I picked this one.

Unless there was a notice to Elk's dealers, which as a DIY I would not have received, Elk has been surprisingly silent on the matter. The only advice I saw was a post in a thread on the Elk M1 message board saying not to use auto sync ("disabling the Time Server in XEP").

My M1G changed the time appropriately last night.

Although, I just updated the XEP and the control firmware yesterday to the Jan 2010 versions.

This time of year again when we move our old watches one hour ahead and the other electronic stuff does it automatically......... Well .........it should be automatic except our Elk M1. 3 years later and it did the same as the original post. I have a rule sending me an email every day at 6:00. On March 7 I received it at 6:00 (as usual) on March 8 I received it at 5:00. On March 9 at 5:00 and today Sunday March 10 it came in at 6:00 as it normally does but with re adjusted time. The daylight setting is set to the 2 nd Sunday and time syncs to a ntp server. So .........either there is something I do not understand and am doing wrong or there is still a bug in the Elk firmware. Am I now the only one with this?

I haven't checked my Elk since I fully expect it to be wrong for the week prior or following DST change. It's a known systemic issue with the Elk. While Elk has made some firmware updates in the past it never seems to work. That's why all my time based programs reside in my ISY-99Xi series controller. I use the Elk for event based rules only.
